1363675 Boots &c SPRAYMOULD Ltd 29 Oct 1971 50323/71 Heading A3B [Also in Division B5] A shoe upper is formed by electrostatic deposition of a plastics material such as p.v.c. or polyethylene on to a mould. A flock coating of cotton, rayon, or polypropylene fibres may be applied to the inner surface of the upper, and a thickened toe cap portion may be provided by screening parts of the mould during deposition. An example has an outer layer of polyvinyl resin, an intermediate layer of vinyl foam, and an inner coating of polypropylene fibres. A sole of polyurethane or vinyl resin may be injection moulded on to the upper, the latter being provided with an anchoring lip to facilitate bonding with the sole.
