Abstract

1363330 Butterfly valves PLESSEY CO Ltd 13 April 1973 [3 June 1972] 26029/72 Heading F2V A butterfly valve element comprises a closure member 1 split into two parts 2 and 3 by a slot 5; and members 13, 9 and 11 for rotatably supporting the element in the housing of a shut-off valve. The parts 2 and 3 are held apart by their own resilience or by a spring inserted in the slot 5. A slot 25 is provided for the engagement of actuating means. The members 13, 9 and 11 may be disc-shaped or hemispherical. The valve element is formed of brass or of polyphenyloxide containing a glass filler. In another embodiment (Fig. 3, not shown) the part 2 is formed as a completely separate part.
