Abstract

1363281 Knitting-machines R PROTTI A PROTTI and U PROTTI [trading as PROTTI FABBRICA MACCHINE PER MAGLIERIA SNC DI UMBERTO PROTTI E F LLI 22 July 1971 [25 July 1970] 34533/71 Heading D1C In a flat V-bed machine needles are selected at the dictates of a pattern set out in a panel 13. The panel comprises perforations, each of which represents a needle, set out in rows corresponding to courses in the pattern. Pins can be inserted in the perforations as required. Alternatively the panel comprises an array of switches. The panel selectively actuates banks of electromagnets 10a, 10b either side of a symmetrical stitch cam. Actuated magnets push raise cams 8a into the path of selector jack butts 5a set out in a staggered arrangement. To determine which jack it may be necessary to select, the position of the carriage is sensed by a position reader 18 and counter 19. A course counter 20 is also provided. Output from the panel is fed to the electromagnets via a selector 22.
