Abstract

1362606 Coated products ALCHEM Ltd 11 May 1972 [14 May 1971] 22160/72 Heading B2E [Also in Division B3] An ingot mould base plate (e.g. of cast iron) has a cavity filled with a refractory composition in the manner disclosed in Specification 1,359,063. The base plate is then coated with a slurry of at least one of the following: vitreous SiO 2 , crystalline SiO 2 , aluminium silicate, Al 2 O 3 , graphite, ZrSiO 4 , Mg 2 SiO 4 and clay in a binding liquid comprising at least one of aqueous metal silicate, silica sol, liquid acidic aluminium phosphate and ethyl silicate.
