Abstract

1362240 Optical data recording SIEMENS A G 16 Aug 1971 [24 Aug 1970] 38280/71 Heading G2J Data is photographically recorded as a plurality of individual point images at selected points on a data carrier by operating a light deflector to direct a data carrying light beam to said selected points. The data is preferably binary in character a digital "1" being reposted as an image of a point light source. A laser beam 4 is focused on to a pin hole in a diaphragm 2. Light from the point source is then reflected from a plane mirror 1 rotatably mounted about two orthogonal axes. Thus for each of positions I, II, III light from an apparent source a, b, c is directed to a position on a record carrier 5 selected by a movable mask 7. There it interferes with a reference beam 6 to form a hologram. The mask 7 can be omitted. In such an embodiment the mirror 1 is located at 2f from a lens 8 which selectively images the point sources on the hologram record carrier 5, also located 2f from lens 8. In a further embodiment both mirror 1 and carrier 5 are respectively located at the principal force of an elliptical mirror. Two mirrors may be used, or one or two polygonal mirror drums, mounted for rotation about orthogonal axes. Alternatively acousto-optic or electro-optic deflectors may be used.
