Abstract

1362140 Machine driving arrangements FICHTEL & SACHS AG 23 March 1972 [26 March 1971] 13776/72 Heading H2A [Also in Divisions F1 and F2] A generator and pump unit for a motor vehicle comprises a generator 20 selectively operable to generate electricity when driven by the vehicle engine through belt 1 and a freewheel coupling 37 (see Division F2), or to operate as a motor driven from battery 47, and one or more positive displacement pumps 21, 22 (see Division F1) driven by the generator armature shaft and supplied with hydraulic fluid from an integral reservoir 7. Elastic couplings 31, 32 prevent transmission of vibration from the pumps to the generator. Coupling 37 enables generator 20 to be operated as a motor for driving the pump or pumps.
