Abstract

1361976 Wrapping-up articles METAL BOX CO Ltd 15 Oct 1971 [31 Oct 1970] 51871/70 Heading B8C Wrappings are applied to a succession of articles by moving the articles and the wrapping in register by means of engagement elements and relative to a stationary article platform, to a packaging station. As shown, pairs of pins 1 extend upwardly from a driving chain dog 2 at a pitch along the latter equal to the pitch of articles, such as pots 3 which are placed in a stationary guide 7 and which are to be wrapped in a sleeve 4. The pins extend through registering holes in the sleeves 4 which are also provided with slits 5, so that as the sleeves are bent upward by resilient pads 8 as the pots with the sleeves are conveyed through the apparatus by the pins 1, the slits engage a portion of a pin 6 of each pot 3 prior to the edges 9 of the sleeves being sealed by adhesive.
