Abstract

1361724 Ignition systems ROBERT BOSCH GmbH 8 Sept 1972 [9 Sept 1971] 41760/72 Heading F1B An ignition system for internal combustion engines comprises first and second discharge circuits each comprising a capacitor 16, 17 and a controlled switching element 20, 22 and each being connected to a primary winding 18, 21 of an ignition transformer 19, a secondary winding 23 of the ignition transformer being connected to at least one sparking plug 24 and at each ignition operation the two capacitors are discharged each by way of its respective discharge circuit, the resonance frequency of the first discharge circuit being at least twice as great as that of the second discharge circuit when a spark appears at a sparking plug. In a modification (not shown) the ignition transformer has a single primary winding and the second capacitor is discharged by way of a choke coil connected in series with this primary winding.
