1361521 Purifying I C engine exhaust gases FORD MOTOR CO Ltd 21 July 1972 [27 Aug 1971] 34133/72 Heading F1B The exhaust gases from an engine operated with unleaded fuel and substantially the stoichiometric fuel/air ratio are passed over a catalyst based upon platinum and/or palladium to oxidize the major portion of the carbon monoxide and unburned hydrocarbons and to reduce the major portion of nitrogen oxides. A method of producing a platinum catalyst and graphs illustrating its effect are provided in the Specification.
