Abstract
1361505 Cooling electrical components; heat pipes INTERNATIONAL RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT CO Ltd 13 Dec 1972 [8 Oct 1971] 47032/71 Heading F4U Electrical components 1-4 mounted on an insulating board 5 in an evacuated metal enclosure 6 are cooled by a capillary wick 7 which extends over all or a part of the exposed surfaces of the compounds and dips into a trough 8 of vaporizable liquid, e.g. de-ionized water. The wick consists of a fine mesh of metal or fibrous material, or alternatively, a porous coating of ceramic material. The exterior of the enclosure 6 may be provided with cooling fins and may be subjected to forced cooling.
