Abstract

1361229 Electric watches SUWA SEIKOSHA K K 21 July 1971 [27 July 1970 10 Sept 1970] 34220/71 Heading G3T [Also in Division H1] In order to facilitate maintenance, a quartz crystal controlled watch has its time standard oscillator constructed as a unit comprising a synthetic resin mounting member with spaces which accommodate the crystal oscillator, an oscillation circuit, a frequency divider circuit, and a driving circuit for the mechanical parts of the watch. Fig. 4 shows a mounting member 8 with channels containing a crystal oscillator 9, a temperature compensating element 11 of BaTiO 3 , a frequency-adjusting capacitor 13-16 and dividing and driving circuitry 17a, b. The circuitry is protected by silicon 17c and epoxy resin potting 17d, and the mounting member provides some resilience of mounting for the crystal oscillator. A metal cover 19 serves as a shield plate for the capacitor 13-16 and acts as a retaining member. The output of driving circuit 17b is fed to coil 113a of a stepping motor and advances rotor 114 to drive a hand train. Actuation of stem 100 moves a setting lever 117 which is coupled to second hand jumper 116 and also cuts off the frequency divider output signal.
