Abstract
1360537 Cooling granular material U VON KRITTER 1 May 1972 [6 Sept 1971] 20165/72 Heading F4B A rotary annular cooler for the compressed air cooling of hot loose bulk material comprises outer, inner and middle support rings 1, 2 and 4 interconnected by radial spokes 3, 3<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>11</SP>, a material container 7 incorporating support surface 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> with louvred grid bars 9 for the passage of the air said surfaces being hinged to the ring 4 at 6<SP>1</SP>, 6<SP>11</SP> and rollers 10 attached to each support surface and running on guide rails 11 which are shaped at a discharge point to lower the surfaces 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> discharging cooled material. The spokes are formed of members 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and 3<SP>11</SP> arranged to taper inwardly so that the support surfaces 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> may be rectangular in shape. Each spoke has an angled cover (14, Fig. 3) above it and formed at its apex with air slots (15). The cover is spaced slightly from the spoke for the passage of cooling air. The support surfaces 5<SP>1</SP>, 5<SP>11</SP> have sufficient clearance between the spokes and the side walls 22 and themselves to allow for thermal expansion. The outer support ring 1 has lateral guide rollers 20 engaging a guide rail (not shown) and the cooler is driven by a friction wheel engaging an outer rail 21. Packing strips 18 on the support rings 1 and 2 engage stationary packing rings 19 to seal a compressed air chamber (not shown). (For Figures see next page.)
