Abstract
1360486 Sintered metal strip containing metal oxides BRITISH STEEL CORP 4 May 1972 [4 May 1971] 12914/71 Heading C7D A powder mixture of a metal e.g. stainless steel and a refractory oxide e.g. Al 2 O 3 CeO, TiO 2 , SiO 2 , ThO 2 , ZrO 2 is rolled into a green strip sintered and further rolled. The -100 mesh metal powder 5 -300 mesh oxide powder are preferably slurried with methyl cellulose, glycerol or polyethylene glycol and water and either roller coated by rolls 3 or extruded on to a moving belt 4 and dried at 5. The green strip 6 is rolled at 7, 8, sintered in H 2 at 9, rolled at 11, 12 and coiled at 13. The strip which may be 0À01 on 0À015 gauge may be used as the carrier belt 10 for transporting the strip through the sintering furnace.
