Abstract

1360305 Piezo-electric generators SOC E LACROIX 10 Feb 1972 [11 Feb 1971 22 June 1971] 6190/72 Heading H2A [Also in Division F3] A circuit for firing a pyrotechnic working charge 16 by means of a pyrotechnic primer 26 located at a relatively great distance from the working charge 16 comprises an explosive priming charge 46 capable of ignition by the charge 26, a piezo-electric element 36 provided between conducting members 42, 44, and an electrical connection 10 connecting the members 42, 44 to an electric primer 14 capable of igniting the charge 16 the arrangement being such that ignition of the charge 46 causes a pressure on the element 36 and consequently a potential difference which results in the ignition of charges 14 and 16. The piezo-electric element may be subjected to pressure via a piston (10) (Fig. 2, not shown) and may include a safety device which shorts-out the members 42, 44 until the explosive charge is fired (Fig. 6, not shown).
