Abstract

1360051 Stoppers &c R S LUTZKER A MINUTILLO and L D LUTZKER 2 June 1971 18684/71 Heading B8T A thermoplastics closure 20 comprises a top wall 30 having a pair of depending feet 40, 42, and a body portion 32 having a sealing lip 34. When applied to a can, the body portion 32 is forced through the opening 22 and the closure assumes the position shown in Fig. 6. In other embodiments, the top wall can be curved, convex upwards, with the feet removed (Fig. 8, not shown) and the lip 34 can be replaced by a number of equivalent devices (Figs. 9-14, not shown) but in all cases the top of the lip 34 or equivalent is higher than the bottom of the feet 40, 42, or equivalent, when not in sealing engagement.
