Abstract

1359517 Ball joint A EHRENREICH & CIE 5 Aug 1971 [5 Aug 1970] 36862/71 Heading E2F A ball and socket joint comprises a single part acetal resin socket 3 which embraces the ball head 4 on both sides of an equator thereof so as to prevent withdrawal of the ball head from the socket, a metal casing 1 and an intermediate rubber ring 2 disposed between and vulcanised to the socket and the casing. The joint is preferably to be used as a bearing for shock-absorbing struts as used in motor vehicles fitted with McPherson strut suspension. In an alternative embodiment (Fig. 1, not shown) a hollow ball head is used.
