Abstract

135,919. Luard, E. S. Dec. 2, 1918. Testing.-Relates to apparatus for testing vacuum brakes, comprising a half-coupling combined with an ejector and suitable valves, and consists in providing the mouth 4, Fig. 2, of the coupling with passages 17, 16 leading to an airinlet valve 18 and a vacuum gauge respectively, and in providing the body 2 of the coupling with a valve chamber 3, Fig. 1, and a non-return valve 7, preferably of the Pulsometer type. The ejector 12 is attached to the body 2 by a casing 10 which has a chamber 11, a connexion 14 to the train pipe, and an exhaust nozzle 13 with silencer 30, Fig. 4. The apparatus is attached to a dummy-plug 26, Fig. 1, by a clip formed in two parts 23 secured by a wing-nut and bolt. To test the brakes, fluid is admitted through pipe 14 until the required vacuum is obtained, and the valve 18 is then moved off its seat to admit air and apply the brakes.
