Abstract

1359192 Flesh tone correction RCA CORPORATION 16 July 1971 [22 July 1970] 33531/71 Heading H4F Flesh tone correction of a displayed colour television image is carried out by adjusting at 25 the phase of the reference signal fed from oscillator 20 to the colour demodulators, in response to the filtered output of a phase detector 23 which produces a zero output for chrominance signals of +I phase, and respective positive and negative outputs when the phase of the chrominance signal is on either side of, and near to, +I phase. Phase detector 23 is only operative when it is receiving a gate pulse G 3 indicating that the chrominance signal is within a specified phase of + I phase, this gate pulse being produced when respective gate pulses (G 1 , G 2 , Fig. 1, not shown) representative, respectively, of the chrominance signal phase, and the specified phase about +I phase, coincide. In a further embodiment, which does not form part of the present invention (Fig. 1a, not shown), gate pulse G 3 is passed via a filter to control the amplitude of the chrominance signal fed to the Q demodulator.
