1358976 N,N-Diethyl-toluamide VIRGINIA CHEMICALS Inc 20 June 1973 [17 Nov 1972] 45733/73 Addition to 1348070 Heading C2C In the process for the preparation of N,N- diethyl-m-toluamide described in the parent Specification, the quantity of water added to the reaction mixture during the aqueous caustic addition is such that the resultant water content of the reaction mixture is less than 40% by weight. The initial temperature of the reaction between m-toluic acid and phosphorus trichloride is preferably increased to 90 to 140‹ C.
