Abstract

1358903 Multi - car control system HITACHI Ltd 18 Oct 1971 [19 Oct 1970] 48390/71 Heading B8L In a multi-car control system such that, at each floor, a passenger uses, one of an array of hall call buttons to indicate the desired destination floor, the call is allocated to that car for which a signal; proportional to the degree of coincidence between the source floor, desired destination floor(s) and the calls already assigned that car minus a signal representative of the work load of that car in reaching the source floor; is the greatest. Operation.-Upon operation of a hall call button HB, Fig. 4 (not shown) at a specific floor, the hall call register HCR comprising the apparatus of Fig. 4 for each floor, a flip-flop (FF), Fig. 5 (not shown), in the control CD, and corresponding to the specific floor is set after a delay of some seconds caused by delay (D1, Fig. 4) during which further calls from the specific floor can be registered. Operation of the flip-flop causes closure of a corresponding switch (SW), Fig. 6 (not shown), in the gate G1 allowing the hall calls, and the number of the specific floor to pass to the memory LAT under control of signal LSI. Signal IS renders the hall call register HCR insensitive to further calls until car selection has been made. Memories RUN A-RUN D store, for each car A-D the floors to be served, and coincidence detector A comprising, for each, car parts AA-AD, having AND gates (1-11), Fig. 7 (not shown) one for each floor and potential dividers (R, R 0 ), one for each car gives as outputs, signals to adders ANA-AND proportional to the number of coincidences between the contents of memory LAT and respective ones of RUN A-RUN D. Distance detectors SDA-SDD determine, for each car, a signal representing the number of calls allocated to the car before it would reach the specific floor, and the distance to be travelled, and, in adders ANA-AND, such signals are subtracted from the corresponding outputs of detectors AA-AD, the resulting signals to selector MMD causing the selection of the car belonging to the largest MMD input signal to answer the hall call(s) from the specific floor. Such selection, via signal LD, causes gates G2A-G2D to selectively open, causing the contents of the register HCR for the specific floor to pass into the memory RUN of the selected car. When the car calls at the specific floor, the contents of RUN appertaining to that floor is cancelled, any call information stored in the register for the specific floor in the car's motion direction since the car was selected is transferred to its RUN store, and the buttons (HB, Fig. 4), which remain depressed when used are reset. The memory RUN of an upward moving car does not store information requiring descent of that car, and vice-versa. Reference has been directed by the Comptroller to Specification 1,059,283.
