Abstract

1358472 Bundling rods &c. NORBERGS MEK VERKSTAD AB 4 Feb 1972 5413/72 Heading B8C Rod, beam or tube lengths 19 are bundled by feeding the lengths by means of a conveyer 17 to a bundling device in which they are formed into a tightly packed bunch of substantially circular cross-section, by means of a sling 6 extending transversely of the bunch, the bunch then being banded with bands or wire and then discharged by the conveyer 17 which simultaneously feeds more lengths into the device. As shown, the device consists of a pair of jaws 2 pivoted about shafts 3 in a head 4 which is movable vertically in guide 24 by means of a telescopic device 5. The jaws support the slings 6 extending over pulleys 7 and 13 respectively carried by the jaws 2 and by arms 21 pivoted to the head 4, the arms 21 being operated by hydraulic cylinders 22 to tension the slings 6 around the lengths 19 as the head is raised by the device 5 and as the jaws 2 are moved towards each other by an hydraulic cylinder 14 to raise the bundled lengths above conveyer 17 provided with sections 16 accommodating the lengths. The bundled lengths are then banded, mechanically or manually, and thereafter lowered on to a vertically movable weighing frame 23 situated to the outside of the conveyer and supported by the head 4 by links 10, one of which is controlled by an hydraulic cylinder 12. When more than two jaws are used, all forward and rearward jaws and the corresponding arms 21 are linked by transverse tubes (25) and (26), Figs. 12 and 13 (not shown).
