Abstract

1356418 Screw conveyers KLNGSTON CONVEYORS Ltd 14 Nov 1972 [23 Sept 1971] 44314/71 Heading B8A A worm conveyer comprises two superposed worms 1, 2 and a third worm 3 with its axis symmetrically spaced from the axes of the worms 1, 2 and all driven at the same rotational speed for guiding and moving containers C on a smooth surface formed by a rail 4. Each worm 1, 2, 3 comprises a helical groove formed in rubber or plastics material on a metal shaft 1<SP>1</SP>, 2<SP>1</SP>, 3<SP>1</SP> respectively and is made in sections with the adjacent ends of co-axial shafts supported in bearings 5 located in the rubber or plastics material and supported by brackets 6, 6<SP>1</SP> with the ends of the shafts drivingly engaging one another. Such driving engagement may be by making the shaft ends semi-circular in crosssection as at (8), (9), Fig. 3 (not shown), and disposing them with their flat faces abutting.
