Abstract

1356178 Impact sensing device; indicators NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 11 Aug 1971 [2 Oct 1970] 37696/71 Headings B7B and B7H An impact sensing device for use with a safety device 17, e.g. a crash restraint bag or safety net, comprises switches 10 and 11 arranged on a vehicle one behind the other and a delay circuit 14, which inhibits actuation of the safety device unless the switches 10 and 11 are closed within a time interval shorter than the time constant of the delay circuit. The switch 10 is secured on the outer surface of a bumper 12, while the switch 11 is fixed on the vehicle body 13, such that deformation of the bumper 12 closes switch 11. The delay circuit 14 may comprise an RC circuit the time constant of which is adjustable. An indicator lamp (34), Fig. 3 (not shown), is lit when the safety device is not actuated because the switch 11 was closed outside the time interval set.
