Abstract
1355829 Fixing a toner image FUJI PHOTO FILM CO Ltd 29 Dec 1971 [29 Dec 1970] 60558/71 Heading G2H A toner image is fixed by the application of a transparent hydrophobic thermoplastic resin layer carried by a temporary support from which the layer is released by the application of heat, pressure or liquid. The resin layer may be 5-30 microns thick. An intermediate layer situated between the resin layer and the temporary support may be released with the resin layer (forming the top fixing layer) or retained on the temporary layer. The temporary support may be of polyethylene terephthalate, diacetylcellulose, cellulose triacetate, polycarbonate, polypropylene, polyamide, polyethylene, regenerated cellulose, polystyrene, polyvinyl chloride or silicone-coated paper. The resin layer may be of vinyl acetate, alkylacrylate, alkylmethacrylate, styrene, acrylic acid or alkylstyrene homo or copolymer. An adhesive property controlling monomer (acrylic acid, methacrylic acid, diethylaminoethyl methacrylate, or hydroxyalkyl acrylate, or methacrylate) may be present. The intermediate layer may be of polystyrene. The releasing temperature is that sufficient to soften the resin, the releasing pressure may be 10-500 gm/in<SP>2</SP> and the releasing liquid may be residual rinsing or developer liquid.
