Abstract

1355608 Valves HALLARYDSVERKEN AB 15 Nov 1972 [29 Nov 1971] 52803/72 Heading F2V A valve comprises a rod 9, Fig. 3, for moving a closure member 3 towards, and away from, a seat 2; and springs 14 which are compressed during closing movement of the rod and are locked in this state so as to retain the closure member against its seat when the closing forces acting on the rod are removed. An opening movement of the rod is required to decompress the springs. The rod is actuated by a double acting piston 23 or by a lever 26 and is connected with lost motion to a hollow-ended spindle 8 of the closure member. The springs are locked in their compressed state, Fig. 2, by pivoted levers 17 which move inwardly during the downward displacement of the spindle. When the rod 9 is moved upwardly to re-open the valve, a collar 16 on the rod urges the levers 17 outwardly so that the springs can resume their decompressed state before the closure member is lifted off its seat.
