1354887 Refractory composition WILLIAMSON CLIFF (GUNNING) Ltd 19 July 1971 [23 July 1970] 35815/70 Heading C1J A gunnable refractory composition comprises (a) granular (e.g. <6 mm.) cadmaceous material, e.g. metallurgical or petroleum coke, calcined anthracite or electrical graphite and (b) a binder comprising pitch and/or refractory bond clay in discrete form being smaller in particle size than the granular carbonaceous material and being <0À5 mm. Preferably 45 to 75% (by weight) of granular cadmaceous material, 15 to 30% pitch and 10 to 25% clay are intermately mixed with water in the cold state and allowed to dry. Optionally, finely divided graphite or plumbago may be included, of such a particle size that on mixing with water these materials coat the granular material and binder.
