Abstract

1353624 Continuous furnaces DEUTSCHE GOLDUND SILBER-SCHEIDEANSTALT 25 June 1971 [27 June 1970] 29877/71 Heading F4B A wax-melting furnace and a sintering furnace, for sintering moulded objects arranged in sinter boxes, are arranged with a downwardly inclined path for the boxes from the entry to the exit of the sintering furnace, so as to provide a path through the wax-melting furnace, a non-melting duct and the sintering furnace along which the boxes are moved without change of orientation, no direct path for the wax fumes being formed between the melting furnace and the sintering furnace. In one embodiment, Fig. 1, a row of sinter boxes 19 are pushed up an inclined track through a wax-melting furnace 12, across a connecting duct 20 perpendicular to the furnace 12 and down an inclined track through a sintering furnace 13. Protective gas fed in at 30 carries melted wax vapour out at the lower end of the wax-melting furnace at 21. The sinter boxes may be pushed sideways through an upwardly inclined or horizontal wax-melting furnace at right angles to a downwardly directed sintering furnace. A vertical duct may connect the upwardly inclined path through the wax-melting furnace with the downwardly inclined sintering furnace path, or an inverted U-shape connecting duct may connect the downwardly inclined paths of a waxmelting furnace with the co-axial path of a sintering furnace. Outlets for wax vapour, additional inlets for protective gas or gates to prevent undue boss of the protective gas may be necessary, according to the furnace arrangement and the relative densities of the protective gas and the vapour from the wax or other moulding medium.
