Abstract

1353525 Toy construction sets BIELEFELDER HAUSHALTSGERATE GES GmbH & CO KG 26 Oct 1971 [31 Oct 1970] 49711/71 Heading A6S An axle connector for a constructional toy has a body with a cylindrical portion at one end to journal a toy wheel, with an axial bore extending from the free end of the cylindrical portion to receive a securing pin, and a further portion of larger cross-section beyond the cylindrical body portion. These may be a non- circular aperture through the portion of larger cross-section, or a portion of non-cylindrical cross-section between the cylindrical body portion and the larger cross-section body portion, or both. In one form, a connector for mounting a toy wheel on a constructional toy consisting of strips, &c with holes through the strips, comprises a body la having a slot 4 which can be slidden over a strip &c to align a transverse hole 2 of the same shape as that of the strip with one such hole in the strip, a cotter pin 5 then being friction fitted into the hole 2, an axle portion 1b of the body to mount a wheel being provided with a friction fit headed pin 3 in its end. As shown, the pin 5, hole 2 are of generally cross-shape, Fig. 2 (not shown), and projecting lugs 6 are provided at the end of the body portion la adjacent the axle portion. By removing the headed pin 3, the axle portion 1b can be passed through a hole in a strip before a wheel is put on, the lugs 6 engaging in slots extending from the hole. In another form, a simple stud and socket connector provides an axle portion 1b, Fig. 5, with lugs 6 and a headed pin 3 retains the wheel. The connector may be modified for use with rods or tubes, and the holes may be oval, round, square &c. The connector may be used to mount wheels in toy cars, cranes, windmills, &c.
