Abstract

1353084 Laminates KANNEGIESSER MASCHINENFABRIK GmbH 30 July 1971 [30 July 1970 31 July 1970] 36013/71 Heading B5N Two pieces of textile sheet material at least one of which is provided on one surface with an adhesive material which is rendered adhesive under the action of heat, are adhesively joined in superimposed relationship by inserting the textile pieces in superimposed relationship in recesses in a template supported on a thrust platen, the template being adapted to locate the pieces in predetermined positions with respect to each other, biasing the pieces towards the thrust platen by suction and clamping the pieces between the thrust platen and at least one heated die. A smaller interlining piece coated with adhesive and a larger basic interlining piece may be bonded together by the method. In Fig. 1 two adhesive joining stations 12 and 13 each comprise at least one heated welding die 14 and 15 adjustably mounted on thrust plates 16 and 17 disposed on thrust cylinders 18 and 19 mounted on support 20 of base frame 21. Mating thrust platens 23 and 24 having air-permeable operative surfaces 37 and 38 connected to vacuum means 39 and provided with templates 26 are slidably mounted on guide rods 25, so that they can be slid in horizontal directions between operating station 11 and adhesive joining stations 12 and 13, the textile pieces being loaded on to one platen in operating station 11 while the textile pieces on the other platen are clamped between the other platen and the heated die. Each template may be formed of two superimposed layers, e.g. of board, having respective apertures of different size corresponding to the outlines of the textile sheet pieces to be joined, holes preferably being provided in the shoulder formed between the two apertures.
