Abstract

1353073 Electric kettles PROCTOR-SILEX Inc 3 June 1971[17 June 1970] 18703/71 Heading A4 [Also in Division H5] Removal of lid 19 from container 1 to allow cleaning of the container or repair of the heating element is prevented until a thermostatic control component 3 is removed to disconnect the supply from the heating element. The lid 19 has a slot 28 into which a tongue 30 of the container 1 may be inserted during assembly. The lid 19 is further held in position by a rotary cam plate 31 which is rotatable by a finger grip 33 to engage beneath a bead 7 of the container. An annular gasket 26 adhesively secured in a channel 25 of the lid is compressed in the assembled state. When thermostatic control component 3 is secured to thermal sensing element 14 by a bolt 42 access to finger grip 33 is prevented and thus lid 19 cannot be removed from container 1. The terminals 13 of the heating element plug into sockets of the thermostatic control component.
