Abstract

1352744 Martensitic steel USS ENGS & CONSULTANTS Inc 25 May 1971 [18 June 1970] 17023/71 Heading C7A A maraging steel consists, in weight per cent, of:- the balance being iron, incidental impurities, and conventional maraging steel additives, e.g. up to 0À5% aluminium and up to 1À5% titanium. These steels have a particularly high impact toughness after age-hardening. In the Examples, steels containing 8% cobalt, 17À5% nickel, 4À8% molybdenum or 5À1% tungsten, 0À004% carbon, 0À0015% sulphur, 0À08% aluminium, 0À02% manganese, 0À02% silicon, 0À4% titanium and 0À001% phosphorus are annealed for varying periods at 900‹ F.
