Abstract
1350486 Acrylonitrile; methacrylonitrile STANDARD OIL CO 19 April 1971 [16 April 1970] 26728/71 Heading C2C In the recovery of acrylonitrile and/or methacrylonitrile from a mixture also containing HCN, acetonitrile and carbonyl compounds (produced by ammoxidation of olefines), the mixture is fed to a recovery column equipped with fractionation trays at a point above the middle of the column, the olefinic nitrile is taken off as vapour, and a vapour sidestream containing substantially all of the HCN, acetonitrile and carbonyl compounds is removed from a point below the middle of the column and passed to a stripping pot to concentrate the HCN, acetonitrile and carbonyl compounds.
