Abstract

1347964 Stackable boxes FRITZ SCHAFER GmbH 20 Sept 1972 [20 Sept 1971] 43556/72 Heading B8P A plastics box made by injection moulding has recesses 6 on the inner edges of inturned flanges 4a, 4b, 5a, 5b, engaged by frusto-conical projections 7, 7<SP>1</SP> on the base of a superposed box. The boxes can also be stacked offset with respect to a lower box to form a secure stack or to conform to the inside shape of the hull of a boat. The recesses 6 may be sinusoidal or of saw-tooth formation. Hand holes 14 and drainage holes 8 are provided, there being further keyhole shaped drainage holes 12 in grooves 11 in the side walls. The box base is reinforced by ribs. Fillets 13 may strengthen the flanges 4a, &c. and if provided to strengthen the corners lie at 45 degrees to the side walls. Smaller projections (16, Figs. 6 and 8) on the flanges provide a non-slip surface and each projection 7 can have a collar (72, Fig. 7) of greater depth than the smaller projections to ensure that the weight of an upper box is taken by the flange of a lower box.
