Abstract
1347664 Labelling machines H KRONSEDER 17 Feb 1972 [20 Feb 1971 24 April 1971 17 July 1971] 7402/72 Heading B8F [Also in Division B6] In a machine for applying gummed labels 6 from glued surfaces of a feed cylinder 7 to an article 8 carried in a rotary path, a transfer cylinder 1 provided with sponge-like pads 3 is interposed which carries a plurality of printing, perforating, embossing and/or cutting elements 9 for the purpose of carrying out on each label before it is applied to the article one or more of the named processes. Each element 9 is associated with one or more pairs of gripper elements 4 for holding the label relative to the element whilst the appropriate operation is effected. A counter-pressure roller 11 is provided for applying the necessary backing pressure to each label and this roller is slidably adjusted through screw threads. An inking device 20, 21, 19 may be employed to ink the elements 9 before application to the labels. Each element may be as shown in Fig. 3 a clip 18 holding rotatable type wheels in place. Cam operated grippers as shown in Fig. 6 may be used to hold and print, emboss or perforate the labels.
