1346904 Active filters TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L M ERICSSON 14 May 1971 [14 May 1970 3 March 1971] 15102/71 Heading H3U The effects of loss resistance in a filter F comprising inductance is reduced by modulating the input signal with an exponentially decaying signal. In a frequency changing filter, a sawtooth generator EG produces a repetitive decaying exponential signal which is mixed with the input frequency changer signal W a before being applied to the input mixer M a . Generator EG also produces a similar repetitive rising exponential signal which is similarly mixed with the signal applied to the output mixer M b . If frequency changing is not required, the sawtooth signals are applied directly to input and output mixers. In a modification, Fig. 7 (not shown), a delay (# a ) is introduced between the generator EG and mixer Mb to compensate for delay in the filter F.
