Abstract

1345993 Open end spinning WILHELM STAHLECKER GmbH 10 May 1972 [11 May 1971 17 Nov 1971] 21850/72 Heading DID An open end spinning machine comprises a drive shaft 3 passing through a wall of a rotor casing 2, the drive shaft 3 and its mounting and drive means being mounted within a closed duct 17 which extends longitudinally of the, machine. As shown, the drive shaft is mounted on rollers 4, 5 and driven by an endless belt 13. The duct 17 is closed by a lid covered with sound absorbing material. The rear of the duct is also covered in sound absorbing material. A footstep plate 6 for the drive shaft rotates in an oil bath. The duct 17 and the oil bath &c. is formed of extruded aluminium. A plurality of the machine sections are linked together to form a complete machine unit. Duct 21 creates reduced pressure in the rotor housing. Duct 22 is connected to a fibre cleaning device in the fibre feed device. Air passes through the duct 17 to cool the machine parts. The cool air flow can be producted by fans on the drive belt pulleys (Fig. 2, not shown). Duct 17 may be common to two rows of open end spinning rotors (Figs. 3 and 5, not shown). A reduced pressure duct for the rotor housing can be arranged at the rear of the duct 17 (Fig. 4, not shown). The drive shaft bearing may be adjustable (Fig. 6, not shown). The drive shaft 3 can be located radially and axially by magnets (Figs. 8 and 11, not shown). The drive shafts may be located by leaf springs (Figs. 12 and 13, not shown). There may be a dirt receiving duct common to two rows of spinning machines (Figs. 15 and 16 not shown). The housing for duct 17 may also contain a brake device for the rotor drive shaft 3.
