Abstract

1345955 Signalling on trains GERMANY MINISTER OF TRANSPORT 21 Oct 1971 48985/71 Heading B7N In a control circuit arrangement for a train in which a circuit 13, 25 extends from traction unit 1 to the other vehicles 2 of the train and carries brake signals during a normal journey or signals to automatic decoupling elements during shunting operation, sensing elements are provided for checking the insulation of the circuit, for checking the completeness of the train and for checking its mode of operation. In the normal journey mode of operation control mechanism 3 is set to this mode and connects line 13 to brake impulse transmitter 9 whereby the braking pulses pass via the line to pulse selectors 10 on the vehicles which route them to the electromagnetic brake devices 11. The trains operation in this mode is checked by monitor 7, the insulation of the circuit is checked by monitor 4 and the completeness of the train is checked by sensing device 28 which monitors a continuous control current through loop 25 of the circuit. In the event of any fault the train brakes are applied and a visual and audible alarm 5 is actuated. During operation in the shunting mode, control mechanism 3 is set to this mode and connects uncoupling impulse transmitter 8 to line 13 whereby uncoupling signals are passed via pulse selectors 10 to the selected uncoupling transformers 12. During this setting the circuit is still monitored by the monitors 4 and 7 and the loop now is used to monitor the disconnection which occurs as a vehicle is decoupled.
