1345141 Delivering sheets COURTAULDS Ltd 20 May 1971 [21 May 1970] 24605/70 Heading B8R [Also in Division D1] A workpiece stitched by a sewing-machine 6, Fig. 1, hangs over the edge of the machine table 5 between a fixed clamping base 16, Fig. 1 and 2, and a stacker rod 20 supported on a metal rod 18 on an arm 27, while a clamping 23 with a foam rubber or plastics sleeve 24 mounted on an arm 32 is spring-urged against the rod 20, which is also spring-urged to the left. On completion of a stitching operation, a switch is actuated to start a motor 42 to drive a shaft 43 through one revolution, wherein a crank 45 lowers and then raises rods 49, 57, the former moving the rod 20 against the bar 16, while the sleeve 24 remains in contact with the rod 20. The rod 57 through a delay mechanism 60, 62 then moves a folder member 25 to the right over the rod 20, while a plate 73 on an arm 37 carrying the folder member acts on an abutment 75 to move the sleeve 24 away from the rod 20, and the end of the workpiece lying on the table 5 is thus flipped by the folder member over the rod 20 or over a previous workpiece 93 already thereon. The folder member is then retracted, allowing the sleeve 24 to move back against the rod 20, and the rod 20 and sleeve 24 are then returned to their initial position, the motor then being stopped until a stitching operation on the next workpiece is completed. The motor 42 and its associated circuits and switches may be replaced by a pneumatic piston and cylinder (100), Fig. 5 (not shown), and corresponding conduits and valves.
