Abstract

1345027 Coated products XEROX CORP 19 April 1971 [5 Feb 1970[ 22799/71 Heading B2E [Also in Division G2] An electrostatographic developer mixture comprises finely-divided toner particles electrostatically clinging to the surface of carrier beads, each of the beads having a uniform coating comprising cellulose acetate butyrate. The cores of the beads may be of glass, flintshot, sodium chloride, ammonium chloride, aluminium potassium chloride, Rochelle salt, sodium nitrate, potassium chlorate, granular zircon, silicon, polymethylmethacrylate, silicon dioxide, iron, steel, nickel, carborundum and mixtures of these. The particles are coated by contacting with the cellulose acetate butyrate in solution in an organic solvent, of which several are listed. Plasticizers of which many are listed may also be present in the coating. Typical toner materials may be gum copal, gum sandarac, rosin, coumarone-indene resin, asphaltum, gilsonite, phenol-formaldehyde resins, rosin-modified phenol-formaldehyde resins, methacrylic resins, polystyrene resins, polypropylene resins, epoxy resins, polyethylene resins, and mixtures of these.
