Abstract
1344743 Two-part couplings A M P Inc 22 March 1972 [15 April 1971] 9558/71 Heading H2E In a two-part coupling the first part1 (Fig. 3) comprises a housing 3 having cavities 12 formed in one mating end 5 each with a respective tab contact 30, while the second part 2 (Fig. 4) comprises a housing with protruding portions 109 complementary to the cavities 12, each portion 109 housing a tab receptacle 130 and including a slot 110 for receiving a tab contact. Each tab contact comprises a sheet which is folded twice to form an edge 36 (which is chamfered at 45), a double-thickness layer 39 and flange 42, and has a connecting portion 34 with a hole 43 joined to a wire 50, while the housing 3 is a single moulding formed around the irregularly positioned tabs and includes mounting holes 9; apertures 44 in the flanges 42 provide anchorage. The couping part 2 comprises a cover 105 and base 103 which consists of a platform 108 and a T-shaped member 114, releasably held together by latches 123 and peripheral members (112). The portions 109 protrude from the platform and each receptacle 130 includes a connecting part 161 and two divergent arms 163 with a locking lance 165 engaging a pocket in the cover 105. A U-shaped cable-clamp 104 with ratchet teeth 160 engages apertures 121 in the T-member.
