1343031 Harvester DRONNINGBORG MASKINFABRIK AS 19 April 1971 [2 Feb 1970] 4888/70 Heading A1F The cutter unit of a harvester header comprises rotating cutters 36 which throw cut crop rearwardly onto a cross-conveyor 50 at positions spaced laterally inwardly of the outermost parts of the cutter unit, allowing the cross-conveyor 50 to be shorter than the width of the cutter unit. The cutters may be ribbed cylinders or part-cones 36 (as shown) rotating about vertical axes, or fluid cutters rotating about horizontal axes, the end sections being angled to throw the crop inwardly. The cutters may be mounted in V formation or along the arc of a circle. The conveyor 50 delivers the crop to a central conveyor 16 feeding a chopping device, 18 (Fig. 1, not shown) from which crop is blown through a chute (22) to an integral or towed container. A fillet 52 is formed in the leading face of the auger flights to direct crop off the conveyor 50 onto conveyor 16. Material scraped off the auger by stripper bar 54 is directed onto conveyor 16 by corrugated roller 56. Under each cutter 36 a skid 68 is pivotally mounted by parallel arms 76 to transverse shafts 78 mounted on the base plate 26. Alternatively the skid may be pivoted at a distance to its rear. When raised the nose 70 of the skid passes through the base plate and into cavity 35 in the bottom of cutter 36. The skid is then flush with the shoe 66 on the leading edge of the base plate which protrudes slightly to protect the cutters. The blades of each cutter are loosely held by pins 88 screwed into its base 32 and passing through an annular member 92 secured to the base.
