Abstract

1342776 Colouring anodized metals SWISS ALUMINIUM Ltd 19 April 1971 [2 April 1970] 26376/71 Heading C7B An anodized aluminium or aluminium-based alloy surface is coloured electrolytically by the use of a single electrolyte containing different metal salts and from which different colours can be obtained by altering the electrolysis parameters. In one example metal salts which will produce differing colours are mixed in the electrolyte, and the colour deposited selected by choosing a certain voltage. The shade of colour is altered by varying the duration of electrolysis. The electrolyte is acidiferous, a variety of possible acids or acid salts being listed as possible inclusions.
