Abstract

1342734 Assembly indicators RANK XEROX Ltd 19 April 1971 [16 April 1970] 18136/70 Heading G5C [Also in Division B4] An assembly indicator for perforated electrical connector end members comprises means for holding a plurality of perforated electrical connector end members 15 in desired positions, stationary light source means, means for conducting light from the source means (light pipes 27) simultaneously to each of two connector end perforations in different members 15 which are to be connected by an electrical connector 16 and means for switching the light source means in turn to other pairs of connector end perforations. The light source is a lamp 23 positioned in a shutter 22 having a slot 24 therein and being driven by a stepping motor 21. Alternatively, a plurality of separate light sources may be used with a switch to illuminate the sources in turn, Fig. 2 (not shown). The light pipes may be coloured to indicate the colour of the electrical connector to be utilized or for some other required property of the connector. It is possible for two light pipes to be located adjacent a single light source, or, for a junction to be made in the light pipe for the case where more than one electrical connector is to be connected to the connector end at one perforation. Fig. 4 shows a replaceable section, adapter 32 in the light guides in order to make the display adaptable for the connection of electrical connectors in different ways.
