Abstract

1342052 Television distribution; radio receiving apparatus SPENCER-KENNEDY LABORATORIES Inc 24 Nov 1970 [28 Nov 1969] 55757/70 Headings H3Q and H4R A converter for selecting any one of a number of television signals on a transmission path comprises a broad band input circuit for coupling to the path and translating the signals to a higher frequency, a narrow band circuit for selecting a predetermined one of the signals and means for translating that signal to the frequency of a predetermined television channel. As described the signals on the transmisson path are each on carriers of a frequency which is a different odd multiple of a reference frequency, e.g. 4À75 MHz. The signals are fed via a broad band amplifying stage Q1, Figs. 6 and 7, to a mixer stage Q2 fed with a signal from the voltage controlled oscillator Q to translate the required television channel to an intermediate frequency, e.g. 230 MHz, a three stage band pass filter including inductors L5 to L9 and capacitors C14-C16 feeds the intermediate frequency signal via tuned amplifier Q to a mixer Q5 fed with a signal from oscillator Q6 whose frequency is such as to shift the intermediate frequency to the frequency of an unused channel in a standard television set 1.
