Abstract

1341978 Delivery sheets WARNER & SWASEY CO 20 Oct 1971 [14 April 1971] 48727/71 Heading B8R A device 10 for delivering sheets, e.g. of metal, from an unloading location in a machine 12 for performing work operations on the sheets in turn, to a stack 48 includes a clamp assembly 52 for gripping the leading end of a sheet 24 and moving the sheet from the unloading location to the stack, the clamp being opened to release the sheet in response to the detection that a trailing end portion of the sheet has been pulled from said machine. The machine may be a punch press including a slide (30), Fig. 1 (not shown), having pneumatic clamps (22) for clamping a sheet and moving it to work positions beneath a tool turret (34) and thence to the unloading location under the control of a punched tape (18) and reader (16). The clamping assembly includes pneumatic clamps on a horizontally reciprocable trolley 56 driven by an hydraulic motor 70. A control circuit for the device 10, which includes a sheet trailing edge detector 60 having a feeler arm 148, and a limit cam 102 and limit switch 104 for the trolley is associated with the punched tape reader so that when a work operation has been concluded and the sheet moved to the unloading location, the trolley is advanced to the machine, its clamps are closed, the sheet is moved to the stack and the clamps opened. An ejector 62 pushes the sheet from the clamps to the stack. A stack height detector202 on the trolley lowers the stack table 198 incrementally, as the stack 48 increases, until a limit switch 210 senses a completed stack and triggers a warning light for stack removal.
