Abstract

1341707 Clutch-brake combinations ROTAX Ltd 27 May 1971 [2 June 1970] 26468/70 Heading F2L A clutch-brake mechanism comprises friction rings 19, 20 respectively held by one-way brakes 21, 22 and interposed between a driving disc 15 and driven discs 13, 14 having interengaging cam surfaces 17, 18 which effect axial clutch engaging motion of the driving disc 15. On initial rotation of the driving disc 15 relative to the driven discs 13, 14, the cam surfaces 17, 18 move the disc 15 axially to clamp the friction ring 19 or 20 between the driving disc 15 and the driven disc 13 or 14 to effect drive to an output shaft 10 fast with the discs 13, 14, reverse rotation of the output shaft 10 being prevented by a one-way brake 21 or 22 acting on the friction ring 19 or 20. Anti-friction rollers 24 may be interposed between the cam surfaces 17, 18.
