Abstract

1341148 Sets ROBERT BOSCH ELEKTRONIK GmbH 1 March 1972 [9 July 1971] 9609/72 Heading H4J A handset 1 (Figs. 1, 3) having a web 2 joining a receiver 4 and microphone 6 has a handle 7 with an elongate opening 8 for insertion of four fingers of a user's hand. The headset may be used in a motor vehicle, the user's fingers being free to operate a dashboard switch or gear lever or to turn a steering wheel. The portion of the handle 7 in use gripped by the front of the hand is resilient and has a longitudinal recess (16) see Figs. 4, 5 (not shown) which adapts to the curvature of the steering wheel. The back of the handle is interrupted for flexibility and so that it is not inconvenient to wear a ring on one of the inserted fingers. The opening 8 is rounded, and is shaped at its ends so that the handset lies snugly in the hands even with fingers outstretched. The handset is made in a single moulding from foamed polyurethane and its surface is free from cells. A handset support 19 (Fig. 7) is approximately rectangular. It grips the handset and narrows towards its lower end, which is open to prevent accumulation of dirt. A single, or as shown, double cradle switch 22, 23 is actuated by the portion of the handset adjacent the receiver 4. The rest 19 is of foamed plastics material.
