Abstract

1340549 Crash restraint bags NISSAN MOTOR CO Ltd 25 Aug 1971 [10 Dec 1970 (2)] 39864/71 Heading B7B A crash restraint bag 20 comprises pieces of cloth 28, 30 which are sewn together at their marginal portions to form seams a, b and c. The bag is inflated through a diffuser 22 connected to a duct 24 leading to the source, not shown, of pressurized gas. Marginal portions of the piece 28 are sewn by threads (36), Fig. 2 (not shown). To avoid ripping at the seams during inflation a piece of cloth 50, Fig. 4, has opposite marginal portions 52, 54 turned back and overlapped. The layers 52, 52a, 54, 54a so formed are secured by threads 56. In other embodiments, the edges of portions 60, 62 are reinforced by adhesive 72, 72<SP>1</SP> or portions 76, 78, Fig. 8, are adhered together and sewn. Alternatively, an inter-layer (84), Fig. 9 (not shown), is adhered and sewn to layers 76, 78.
