Abstract

1340292 Rollers JAGENBERG-WERKE AG 20 June 1972 [5 Aug 1971] 28832/72 Heading F2U [Also in Division B8] A lateral stretching roll 1 for flexible webs comprises a number of end to end rollers 4, a support bearing 6 being provided at the end of each roller and being connected to a cross-bar 3 by adjustable means so that the distance of each roller from the bar can be individually adjusted and thus the curvature of the roll can be locally adjusted for removing local distortions in the running web. The cross-bar 3 is pivotable about a shaft 2 into an inoperative position. Each roller may be freely rotatable on a respective spindle, adjacent spindles being coupled. A local distortion, e.g. a crease in a paper or plastics web, is sensed optically and electrical or hydraulic means used to adjust the bearings.
