Abstract
1340015 Forming spherical particles EASTMAN KODAK CO 19 April 1971 [16 Feb 1970] 21924/71 Heading C1A [Also in Divisions B5 C7 C2 and C4] A fusible material is passed in its molten state into a cryogenic medium (i.e. a liquid having its normal boiling point below 32‹ F.) at a rate causing it to solidify into spherical particles. The cryogenic medium may be liquid nitrogen. The fusible material may be a hydrophilic, inorganic material and may be an inorganic phosphor e.g. thallium-activated potassium or sodium iodide, manganese-activated cadmium iodide, manganese-activated cadmium chloride or lead-activated cadmium iodide or a metal, metal alloy or metallic salt e.g. silver halide.
